On December 29th, 2017 in Oristano, at the Diocesan Museum, will be inaugurated the XI edition of terre di confine filmfestival. Colombia is our guest country, and the main theme is ‘the river’. Terre di confine filmfestival will open at 6:30 pm with the screening of the feature film "Via Crucis" by Colombian director Harold de Vasten (première for Italy, with Italian subtitles). A presentation will be provided by representatives of the organising association "Su Disterru" and the festival’s artistic director, Marco Antonio Pani, accompanied by filmmaker Antonello Carboni. Previously, at 5:30 pm, the Diocesan Museum will host the opening of the exhibition "Painted frames" by master Angelo Liberati, closing event of another movie review, "Il cinema siamo noi", curated by Antonello Carboni.
The feature film "Via Crucis" (here its trailer) was produced with only six professional actors and actresses, due to the collaboration of the entire town of Timbío, in the Colombian peripheral province of Cauca. The production was possible thanks to donations and collections in the spirit of the "minga", a popular initiative by which rural people come together to build the neighbour's house, repair a common good or help a family in need. The experiment has resulted in an only apparently naive movie, featuring a very peculiar poetic and strong humour. Director Harold de Vasten is one of the founders of "Cine Minga", a cooperative company aiming at low cost productions that involve populations of the innermost Colombian territories in collective efforts triggering cultural and social growth.
Following this preview, terre di confine filmfestival will fully resume in March 2018. The complete screening programme, together with the guests’ list and side events, will be presented on March 2nd, 2018 at a press conference at the Cineteca Sarda in Cagliari, followed by a full day of projections. The festival will then start in Oristano on March 8th, Women's Day, with a round table on ‘Women in the Sardinian cinema industry’, followed by the screening of the film "Nel mondo grande e terribile" (directed by Daniele Maggioni, Maria Grazia Perria and Laura Perini), then move to Solarussa (9-11 March 2018) and Asuni (15-18 March 2018) with a midweek incursion in the city of Sassari.
